MAYBE THERE'S A REASON

You may notice that this is the first song by THIKK so far that has no references to women, love or murder! It is actually one of our more complicated songs — though we had no idea it was when we wrote it. The lyrics are quite deep and the music has two parts with different time signatures. It was easy to play with one guitar and a suitcase for drums as teenagers but when I was trying to produce it over the weekend, I hard a hard time, especially with programing the drums and making a smooth transition between the two parts (I added a B7 chord between the two disparate chord progressions (one in G-major and the other in E-major) to make it flow. Anyway I think its come out well — the first part is almost country, while the second section has a hard rock vibe. Any and all comments are welcome.

Maybe there’s a reason for my laughter and my joy

Maybe there’s a reason why I cry

Maybe there’s a reason for my living and my dying

Maybe there’s a reason I ask why

Why… why…

What I was young with a lot to know

I watched the world passing by

I had no sense or consequence

Life passed in the blink of an eye

It passed in the blink of an eye

When I got older it got colder

Friends came and went on by

I had my chances at some romances

But in the end they all made me cry

In the end they made me cry

Maybe there’s a reason for my laughter and my joy

Maybe there’s a reason why I cry

Maybe there’s a reason for my living and my dying

Maybe there’s a reason I ask why

Now I’m a man I’m doing what I can

To understand my place in time

I think it’s true that what we accrue

In the end is not worth a dime

It’s just not worth a dime

Some day I know my life will flow

From me to so unborn child

Will my life end or will I transcend

Into something that’s more beguiled

Something that’s more beguiled

Maybe there’s a reason for my laughter and my joy

Maybe there’s a reason why I cry

Maybe there’s a reason for my living and my dying

Maybe there’s a reason I ask why

Maybe there’s a reason for my laughter and my joy

Maybe there’s a reason why I cry

Maybe there’s a reason for my living and my dying

Maybe there’s a reason I ask why

Maybe there’s a reason

Maybe there’s a reason

Maybe there’s a reason

Maybe there’s a reason
